Google introduces AI capabilities in Workspace apps
Back
Google will equip several Workspace apps with artificial intelligence functions to counter the threat of ChatGPT. The AI tools will be added to popular Workspace apps such as Chat, Meet, Gmail, Docs, and Slides. These tools are now available to businesses and developers, and will eventually be available to the general public.
The tools can be used to organize and write emails and other content, and to generate presentations and official documents. After the launch of ChatGPT by Open AI late last year, Google has ramped up AI development considerably (and sometimes hastily, see Google Essentials of February 10 “Expensive AI blooper for Google”).
Following the possible integration of ChatGPT in the Microsoft Office products, Google is now also integrating AI tools into its applications. For developers, Google is launching a number of new APIs and an AI application builder with which they can develop digital assistants and chat interfaces. All functions are first extensively tested before they are made public.
